Egypt Dynasty Timeline

Need an Ancient Egypt Timeline? Look no further.

Here it is: I put together this handy infographic for your homework needs, as a teaching tool for KS2 and up, or simply as a quick reference. This Egyptian timeline has you covered from start to finish.

The Egyptian Empire existed from 3000 BC to the Ptolemaic Dynasty. Egypt's history is one of many rulers and diverse periods, of fascinating civilization and culture, which met its final end when it was defeated by the Roman Empire.

When you study the chart, you'll probably notice that some of the dates overlap in certain instances. Why? During those times, pharaohs may have ruled simultaneously in different parts of Egypt. In other instances, we can't be quite sure of the dates. It shows the difficulty researchers face in committing to exact figures.

Quick fact: Dating Ancient Egypt's Dynasties is still ongoing. It's a difficult task simply because it all took place so long ago. The timeline table is based on archaeologists' conventional estimates. They are subject to change as new information is unearthed.

Looking for Queen Cleopatra? You'll find her near the bottom in the Graeco-Roman Period. You may be surprised to learn she ruled so late in Ancient Egypt's long history!

Please feel free to print this timeline and/or embed it on your own website. If you know of anyone who might need a copy, be sure to share this page!
