Here's a super fun activity that combines coloring, scissors, and ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. It's great for a rainy day, or whenever you have some free time on your hands!

door hanger, kids free printable ancient Egypt mummy activity

Have you ever seen those door hangers that they hang on hotel room doors? You may have found one while traveling. Usually, they tell the maids or other unwanted people to stay out of your hotel room in case they want to come in and clean it.

Of course, there's no reason you can't apply the same tool right at home! Maybe you want to keep your kid brother or kid sister out of your room. Now you can do that with this handy door hanger. It will spook them so that they stay away.

Guess what, this make-at-home craft is also perfect for Hallowe'en. It makes a great spooky Hallowe'en decoration. What could be scarier than a warning that your room contains mummies inside?

The door hanger is printed on a standard 8.5 x 11 sheet piece of paper, folded in thirds and then glued and cut into its final shape. At that point you can customize your door hanger by coloring it. You can also write your name in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. How cool is that? Only you will know what it says.

Here's a bonus secret: the design on the "mysteries solved by" side is a magic, Egyptian looped rope. Any name that's written inside this looped rope--which is also called a CARTOUCHE--will be protected. That's pretty handy, isn't it?

You can hang it on a door to freak out your brothers and sisters, friends, and maybe even your mom, dad, grandma or grandpa. How fun is that?
